IP Power Strips

IP Power 9258

Promotion of the Month

Opengear IP Power 9258

IP Power 9258 power strips allow remote browser control of four AC power outlets. The strip is IP addressable, so each outlet can be independently turned ON/OFF or cycled for power-on reset.

The IP Power 9258 power strips connect on the 10/100 local network and are controlled using a standard web browser. Once IP connection has been established and the security login approved, power at each of the 9258’s outlets is controlled with a simple click in the browser. Servers and network devices at local and remote sites can be rebooted – saving time and manpower as there’s no need to send someone to the scene to get the job done.

Configurable timer options allow you to schedule powering remote appliances off and on. And these schedules can be reprogrammed at any stage (over the Internet or local Ethernet). Each outlet can supply up to 6A of 120VAC or 250VAC power, using standard IEC 320 Inlet/Outlet power connectors. The power status is clearly displayed on the 9258's front panel and each outlet can be manually controlled from there. No complexity. No software skill required.

When coupled with an Opengear’s IM/CM4000 secure gateway, the IP Power solution enables system administrators, network manager and support Help Desks to fully monitor and control all the servers, PCs, routers, switches and devices in their branch offices and distributed customer sites. Using the authenticated encrypted SDT access for remote browser control ensures secure power management of the site.

Also in event of a recalcitrant firewall, internet gateway, LAN switch or management server preventing regular remote broadband access at the site (or even breaking the local network connectivity), the IM/CM4000 gateway be still accessed out-of-band (through a dial in modem or alternate broadband connection) and:

  • the IM/CM4000 can access the IP Power 9258 or the LAN (or over a serial line connection), then
  • the recalcitrant firewall, switch or server can be power cycled, and
  • (if necessary) the firewall, switch or server can be reconfigured using RDP VNC HTTP, IPMI, SoL or other iLO management tool
