Case Study: New Office and Engineering Lab Build Out

2017-04-11T08:22:20-08:00 December 28, 2016|Design & Installation, Low Voltage Structured Cabling|

Company: Solid-State Storage Technology Company
Location: San Jose, CA
Project / Building Size: 80,000 sq. ft.
Project Type: New Construction, Structured Cabling, and Lab Build Out

Project Scope:
Mirapath was contracted to provide and install 500+ internal data ports within an 80,000 sq. ft single story building, including user work stations, conference rooms, offices, lobby, and WAPs. We were also tasked to design and build out 1 MDF, 2 IDF rooms, and 5 engineering labs within the building.

Understanding the customer’s requirements, Mirapath specified the hardware infrastructure for the MDF, IDF, and engineering labs.  Our team was active in all the planning meetings with the customer, general contractor, electrician, and other trades to coordinate schedules and timelines and identify challenges early on.

Challenges:

As with most new build projects, plans change. In this project, we encountered:

  • Delays in furniture delivery
  • Expanded scope to include lab equipment move and containment design and installation
  • Last minute layout adjustments

Summary:
Mirapath’s ability to project plan, adjust, and do what it takes was critical to the success of the project. We delivered the project within the original timeline despite delays and challenges.

As with all of our structured cabling projects, we provided full cable testing reports for all Cat6 and fiber installation, certifying that they meet or exceed the ANSI/TIA/EIA-568 standards.  We also included as-build documentation.

As a result, Mirapath has been involved in additional projects with the customer, including additional office builds and technology refreshes throughout their organization.
