How to Design and Install Infrastructure Under a Tight Deadline

Objective

The customer, a Fortune 100 multi platform technology company, was looking to consolidate multiple engineering labs from various locations into a single colocation to allow for expansion in 3 weeks.

Scope of Work

Design and Installation

Working closely with the customer, the Mirapath team designed and installed both the mechanical and electrical infrastructure for the space including:

  • 40+ racks and 2-tier ladder rack system for the copper and fiber structured cabling
  • 80+ power distribution units configured to integrate with existing DCIM appliance

Mirapath also recommended a modular distribution panel to allow for flexibility with changing power demands and alleviate the costs of hiring an electrician to reconfigure whips.

Plan and Physical Move

City permits are required in order to move the customer’s existing equipment into the new colocation. Mirapath secured the necessary clearances to acquire the city permits.

Coordinate the move with the customer’s electricians, cabling crew, city inspectors, and product manufacturers using a cloud-based collaboration tool. This allowed all parties to be in sync with the latest plans — regardless of how dynamic those were.

Proper preparation and cart load strategy to ensure full understanding of the move process.

Results

The equipment was successfully moved into the newly built campus. Both budget and deadline requirements were met and Mirapath was able to complete the project with no downtime.
